(63) Now, there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works-a
teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles.
He was [the] Christ; (64) and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross,
those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets
had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him,
are not extinct at this day.

Many do not believe the
that Jesus existed because they believe that Nazareth did not exist in the first place. However, this was proved wrong by
Bellarmino Bagatti in 1955. Excavation by the archarologist shown that there was an agricultural settlement
on the site identified in the Bible's New Testament as Nazareth. The site dates back about 900 years before Christ was born.
Evidence of the place being used during the Romans rule has been found.
In addition, excavation
by Michael Avi-Yonah at Caesarea in 1962 discovered an artefact, a tablet with the name "Nazareth" contained on it. This tablet
demonstrates that Nazareth existed at least as early as first century A.D
The above allows us to
know that it is true that such a town called "Nazareth" existed. This is helpful to prove that Jesus was real.
3) Luke's Account
From the Bible, we will
find that it contains tetimonies to the historical Jesus. For example, in the book of Luke 2:1-7 it says
"Now it came to pass in those days, there went out a decree from
Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled. This was the first enrolment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
And all went to enrol themselves, every one to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth,
into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David; to enrol himself
with Mary, who was betrothed to him, being great with child. And it came to pass, while they were there, the days were fulfilled
that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid
him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)"
Joseph P. Free, professor
of Bible and Archaeology at Wheaton College, has confirmed, through the discoveries of archaeology, the absolute reliability
of Luke's report on these very points.
The discovery of a number of papyrus writings which relate to Roman census. He cites one made about 9-6 B.C. 23 He tells us
of an inscription found at Rome in 1828 indicating that Quirinius was governor of Syria, not once but twice, and also that
William Ramsay, just before World War I, had found a monument in Asia Minor likewise implying two governorships for Quirinius.
This archaelogy prove
showed that Luke's statements were reliable. Thus the existance of Jesus is proven positive.
We cannot deny the fact
that crucifixion ever existed in history. Jesus was put to death on the cross, executed by the brutual method. The evidence
of cruxifixion will in turn lead to the evidence of Jesus being a real historical figure.
From my research, I learnt
that there are many ancient sources that talk about crucifixion. Discovery of the evidence in archaeological form prove that
there really was such an execution. An actual bone from a coffin which was found to have a nail still stuck in it. The nails
stuck the person's heel bone against a bent or something so that it could not be removed without causing tearing of the tissue.
That was the way Jesus
was put to death when we read accounts about Him. This shows that it is true He was real, as He went through an execution that
was very true.
5) The Bible
Through archaeology, the
Bible is historically accurate. Proof of the Bible's accurateness will in turn prove the existance of Jesus Christ, whose
life was narrated by four gospels in the bible. We could confidently say that Jesus Christ was real, because it was said in
the Bible, and many other sources. The Bible's reliability will not be doubted because scrolls of the words written in the
Bible were found, in the Dead Sea, a untouched cave in the Judea Desert. Archaelogist also excavated sites that uncovers the
location of the cities mentioned in the Bible, the artefact and lifestyle. Thus it is one of the strongest factor that contributes
to the fact that Jesus Christ is. a real historical figure.
